It is our great pleasure to invite you to Indiana University for the GLACURH 2008 Conference.

We are extremely excited about the opportunity to host this conference and have great confidence in our bid team. They have accomplished a lot in a short amount of time and we believe the enthusiasm will continue. We are confident in their ability to be successful in hosting a great GLACURH and they have already garnered support from many aspects of campus - including Residential Programs and Services, Indiana Memorial Union, Dean of Students Office and the Office of Diversity Education. Indiana University looks forward to sharing it's services, staff, and facilities with our colleagues from other schools as well as introducing them to our spirit and traditions.

The Residence Halls Association and National Residence Hall Honorary members are also in support of the conference and have pledged their time to assisting the conference committee. The conference will be incorporated into our regular business meetings and regular updates will be given by the conference co-chairs. We are excited to share with others and assist with conference efforts. We are happy to increase our involvement at the regional level and serve GLACURH as a conference host.

We look forward to welcoming you to come take a ride on GLACURH 2008: Tour de Leadership!!

Sincerely Yours,

Sarah Colan and Jen Dunning, Co-Chair, GLACURH 2008

History of Indiana University

Indiana University was founded in 1820 in Bloomington, Indiana as a state seminary.  The doors to the school opened for the first time in 1824, and within four short years, the institution was renamed Indiana College, only to be once again re-titled as Indiana University in 1938, and it has held the title through to today.

Indiana University has always been a progressive institution; it was one of the first public schools in the nation to admit men and women on an equal basis, starting with the first female enrollment in 1867 of Sarah Parke Morrison.  Growth and continuous development are an integral part the legacy of Indiana University.  From starting out as a seminary in 1820, IU has grown to include eight campuses, over 18,000 staff and faculty, and 98,000 students. The students, staff and faculty here at IU are very excited to be welcoming two new members to the IU family.  Just this past summer, IU welcomed our new president, Michael A. McRobbie, as well as Karen Hanson, who will be serving as both the new provost for Indiana University, as well as the executive vice president for IU’s Bloomington campus.  We are excited to be here as they being their legacies at IU.  From starting out as a seminary in 1820, IU has grown to include eight campuses, over 18,000 staff and faculty, and 98,000 students.
